Welcome to Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology. On this web page, we provide information about the clinical services, educational activities and academic studies of our department.

Periodontology is the scientific branch that investigates the clinical and histological structure of the tooth supporting tissues surrounding the teeth, the diseases affecting these tissues and their treatments.

The aim of education in our department is to provide education in an environment equipped with up-to-date information and technology, with an approach based on by personal communication and tolerance. Creating an atmosphere where our prospective dentists will feel competent and privileged having successfully completed their Periodontology internship, on the other hand, is the basis of our educational philosophy. Our aim is to train competent dentists who can freely express their opinions, question, see themselves dentists with high values, equipped with up-to-date information and aware that they serve the public.

Another focus of our department is the postgraduate periodontology program. Our goal in post-graduate education is to train periodontists who master the current practices in periodontology, follow evidence-based current professional practices, make a difference in practice, always adhere to professional ethical rules, and contribute to the public oral and dental health. In line with this goal, while providing defined standards for the scope and qualifications of periodontology specialist training, we have been continuing our tradition of raising these standards even higher in many fields for years. During their education, our specialization students gain competence in theoretical education, article meetings, case and seminar presentations, justification of treatment processes and applications of current theoretical knowledge. While gaining competencies in periodontology and dental implantology practices, from simple to complex, they adopt the concept of personalized treatment and put it into practice.

As the Periodontology department, we actively contribute and take part in the Oral Biology and Community Oral and Dental Health doctorate programs. These were programs, the first of their kinds in Turkey, were established in 2018 under the leadership of Dentistry School and Basic Sciences of the Medical School.

Clinical services in our department, are carried out in pre-graduate and post-graduate programs. Clinical services are services provided to patients. Although we call them the patients, they are "HUMAN" and the our objective is their well-being. It is in our culture that seeing tooth as an organ and to provide the patients with healthy smiles for life.
